Okay. A few weeks back my desktop PC started turning off suddenly as if I lost power to my house. I thought it might be due to a virus, so I updated my Norton antivirus software. This past weekend it happened again, but this time I can't get it to turn on at all. I know that the PC is getting power because there is a flashing blue light next to the button that turns the PC on.

Does anybody have any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?

    Thanks!

First thing to do is get a nice friend to loan you their system and start to try your stuff on it.

It sounds like it could be the MB. I fixed one for a colleague at work, which for all intents and purposes was dead, but I noticed (after checking PSU RAM and CPU) that the light on the optical mouse was going. Long story short they had a power problem at home and the MB got fried.

I replaced the MB and all is well.

Check all the parts first before going buying anything.

    Adh Mor (good luck)
