My wife is buying a new player and I was wondering if anybody knew about this MP3 website: www.allofmp3.com The site is based out of Russia, is this site legal to download from?
One idea might be to grab as much music from AllOfMP3.com you can, before it (maybe) gets shut down. (Not that I'm encouraging illegal activities, mind you I believe a proper price would be somewhere in between AllOfMP3 and iTunes (etc), say about 40 cents a track. The main companies are (still) ripping us off, charging essentially the same price for a download as they charge (per-track) for a CD. And that's for a MUCH lower quality file. (One nice thing about AllOfMP3 is that you can choose your bitrate, from 96 (I think) all the way to the original wav file. And also in a number of different formats.) It's hard to blame the IFPI for trying to shut that site down, but they should also learn some lessons from them about what customers really want. But unfortunately the recording industry never seems to learn... Cut the price, offer different bitrates and formats, and ditch DRM - then very few people will bother with "illegal" sites.
