    Hi guys,

This is my situation: I have a Dell Inspiron 8200, I switched it on yesterday and get the blue screen of death. After hours I managed to fix errors upon errors, I ran chkdsk command, and it gets stuck about 70% through stage 5 (when its checking for free space). At times the laptop wont get passed the bios screen and at times windows loads.

I want to replace it with a 60gb hard drive, the one I have at the moment is as follows:
    IBM Travelstar IC25T060ATCS05-0
    60GB, 5400 RPM

I know that IBM no longer make laptop hard drives and that it has been taken over by Hitachi, so should I go with Hitachi or is there any other ones I should go for, a link for a site in the UK would be great.

    Thanks in advance,

First off, I would hit Dells website. They have a diagnostic progam for thier hard drives and it will tell you exactly what the problem is. I would start here just to make sure that it is your drive that is at fault.

Once it has been determined that the drive is bad, any 2.5" IDE drive should work fine. The Hitachi is a good unit.

Sorry, dont know any links, being that I am on the other side of the pond.
