MP3 Player Recommendation?

I'm pulling my hair out, trying to decide which player to buy. Here's my criteria, in order of importance:

    1. Drag & drop, no proprietary software requirements (after my experience with Sony Connect...NEVER AGAIN!). I intend to use my preferred player, Media Center 11, which is happy to recognize any drag & drop-compliant device (and some other devices too, but not anything that uses weird Sony-esque databases).

    2. Sound quality...especially volume...none of the players I've tried have been quite loud enough. (I often listen in noisy enviroments...)

    3. Capacity: at least 1 GB

    4. Flash or HDD? The player will mainly be used for the gym and other active pursuits, so perhaps flash would be best - but my existing (cheap) flash player has never been very reliable (I have to reformat it about once a week). My wife's Sony 6 GB is reliable, and sounds great, but transferring tracks is incredibly painful.

I have considered: Creative Neeon, Rio Carbon, MobiBlu Mini. I'm leaning towards the Neeon, but haven't seen any solid reviews yet.

I won't consider any member of the iPod family (too trendy, overpriced, feature-poor, mediocre sound...imho!).

Any advice will be most appreciated!

I would suggest the Creative Neeon or one of the 1GB Sandisk players. I've heard good reviews for both of them, but don't own either.
