    Hey greensman
    Oh I've been around a bit :) Checked the ole shoutbox & put my update in :)
    School and work make Binkie a dull girl :)

    I'm not to sure on how good of a scanner the NEC's are - good burners but may not be that great scan wise. So mightbe why the totals are a little wacky.

    Hope all is good w/ you there too! We have the lovely ice and snow bit going on now + freezing here!

    Bout dang time my friend. You'll love it. And if not I'll give you my address and you can send it my way. lol.

    btw I think you did the right thing for now on you computer upgrade (cpu). Also Lp531 made a good point, if you could swing the board and cpu (E6300 core duo) it wouldn't hurt. :) Don't want to confuse you but I understand his statements too. :) You gotta do what's right for you at the time tho. ;)

    Gettin my new board today (at least I should :)) and will post as soon as I can on the new computer burn and scan. yeaaaaahh!!!

    @binkie7,
    Thanks for your insight and knowledge. Always feel free to add or correct me (if not anybody) if we need it. :):):) Yeh I had some questions as to the actual ability of the NEC on scanning. Haven't they made the new ones better for scanning? Just curious not getting one but the other members may want to know. :)

    rob try transcoding it with dvd shrink and reduce your target size not burning to the edge of the disc and see if you get a better score

    @aabbccdd

    should shrink take a hour and half to do (hollywoodland) with all the quality settings being used? i did keep the menu but still imaged the extras... it went through the analyisis in about 20 mins. but its encoding says it will take a hour and 22 mins. is this normal for a movie over 2 hours long? now remember i got a little celeron d 340 cpu. it is slower than your dream machine..lol

    @aabbccdd

    yea i checked my DMA. everything is fine there primary (HDD)is set foe ultra DMA mode 5
    and secondary is set for Ultra DMA mode 4 and Ultra DMA mode 2(both drives)...
    thats al good there.. i think its just my CPU and the fact that its a 2+ hour movie with all the best quality settings used. gonna do it again without the advanced quality choosen..

    @binkie7... WOW that first scan looked nasty. guess that pioneer dont like nero quality scans...lol same disc different drive.
