Movies coming out on BluRay (and HD-DVD) will have the newer, improved audio coding for soundtracks. I'm interested in the new lossless formats namely Dolby Tru-HD and DTS-HD. These require HDMI version 1.3.
Does anyone know if the PS3 will have HDMI v1.3 and will be able to output these formats? Please provide links if you have them.
If the PS3 will not be able to do this I will have to budget another $1000 or more for a standalone BluRay player that can.

The HMDI v1.3 spec is set to be released this month. If Sony wants to future-proof the PS3 they have to find a way to implement the HDMI v1.3 standard. I for one would prefer not to get a standalone BluRay player if I already have the PS3. But I'm definitely willing to upgrade my audio system to take advantage of Dolby TruHD and DTS-HD.

I know it's important but when the guy answers his own question.It seems pointless.The ps3 will have 1.3 period.

Tensions a flaring! I for one found the forum useful,i also read the the gamepro artcile about this as well before this thread but evewn still this thread was helpful and explained some things i didnt know before...
