hey guys, just a simple question here. i currently have a sony vaio laptop and when i go back to college this fall i would like to have a monitor to go along with the normal stock one. on the back of the laptop there is a monitor plug so if i plug a monitor into this will it show the same screen, or is there a way to sync them so i can scroll from one to the other? main purpose of doing is so when writing research papers i can have one document open on one screen and microsoft word opened on the other.

Typically, you can "extend the windows desktop" onto the second monitor. It will allow you to do exactly what you are asking. You will need to 'activate' the rear monitor port by hitting the function key and one of the "F*" keys. Dont know which one it is for sony....I think they are different.
