Burning avi to DVD without converting with Nero Vision?

    Is it possible to burn an avi video (that is 2.1gB) to a DVD and still have a DVD play it? I ask this because when I try to use Nero Vision, it converts to DVD so that a 700mB segment becomes a 2.1 gB file. I can't fit the entire movie that is already 2.1gB on a 4.38gB DVD Video. Any help? I just want the avi vide. I don't need all the DVD menus, etc.

    Would if work if you just burned it to a CD or DVD as a data file using Nero Express or Burning ROM?
