    Hey Everyone,
I love My DSL connection but sometimes I want to throw my modem out the window:) Anyway The place I live gets a Great (open) Wirless signal.
Should I pop a wireless USB Adapter in my desktop and surf & Download off of someone elses connection? or is that considered to be bad form:?

    Thanks

Hi, I have an open connection which I monitor and let people use around the home and work........the key is I LET PEOPLE USE IT.

Although not a capital offence, even receiving an IP Address on someones wireless without their consent is considered a crime in North America. I have not heard of anyone beng charged yet but there are theft and privacy issues.
I worked on security for a medium sized company that had two open unsecured connections. Both were used to download porn(child included) on and off company hours. Local and federal law enforcement traced the porn to the company's location with the help of the ISPs. Turned out(they think) some unsavory element of society parked within connection range and was surfing and downloading. The router had a log of all MAC addresses on the DHCP log.
Every PC/Notebook........within a 500metre radius was checked for matching Mac addresses.

The moral of the story......You may have good intentions but what about the other guy.

Well, the other guy is a sick jerk. I'm sure if you're resposnsible about it nothing too bad will happen.
