i want to increase my ram from 512 to 2gb but on newegg the only ram within my specs : ddr pc3200 non eec 2.5v is ADATA dual channel, I dont think my chipset is dual channel can i use this anyway?
You should be able to use any pc3200/ddr400 Non ecc ram. What kind of computer is it and how many slots does it have?
That being a P4 computer your mother board should be able to run dual channel, the only reason it is'nt now is because Hp skimped and only installed a single 512 module. Tell me your budget and I'll help you pick out some good ram. Jumping from 512 single channel to 2 gigs dual channel should give you a noticable difference in performance!
the stuff on newegg was around $80 per 1gig stick but not sure of the quality (had good reviews from users) but i'm able to spend more if you have any recommendations. thanks
Ok,Corsair is one of if not the most respectable producers of ram.I would suggest these>http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145491 Or these if you could swing the extra few bucks >http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145575 It's lower latency (higher performance)and might make a difference if your motherboard will allow.
