For all of you that have the urge to creaate HD-content that are the quality of HD-DVD and Blu-Ray movies, I suggest you check out this new app from Micro$oft.

    Windows Media Encoder Studio Edition...
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/encoderse/default.aspx

With this app you can create you own high quality HD-Content using one of the best codecs out right now which is VC-1 (A.K.A. WMV9-HD).

    I don't like micro$oft, but I love VC-1 and HD-DVD!

    Universal does too...

    VC-1 in the industry...

It is similar but boasts compatibly with WMV-9 HD not VC-1. There is a difference.

Do i need a HD-DVD burner or something?? Or will my DVD+R DL disc works? And do you mean by changing the files from a bad quality (e.g. dvd) to a high quality?

I am using the little brothers of the mpeg-4 HD encoder and VC-1 encoder trying to compress some DVDs and I am getting horrible results, even worse (partially at least) than mpeg-2 at the same bitrate. Is there a big difference between VC-1 and WMV9 and mpeg-4 main profile and mpeg-4 High Profile?

What I am trying to do is lower the resolution of the DVD and half the framerate in order to get the filesize down to about 1/4 to 1/3 the original.

Well, I guess I can try out the VC-1 for myself thanks to the link you provided.

Oh, and is it possible to get chapters into the encoded files?

    Thanks for your input.
