    Hi,
I have been given a phone that "doesnt work" by a friend, here is my problem. Whenever I put a sim into the phone, i get a very weak signal, but when i try and call or text, it pops up with "no network coverage" The sim works fine in other phones so it must be the phone. I unlocked it no problem thanks to kind people on afterdawn, but now I have this new problem.

    Any ideas

    Cheers
    Dave

Possible that the sim card doesnt work on the same frequency the phone operates on.

    Check out www.gsmworld.net

and check out the nokia europe website.

    Good luck.

    Hi,
Went to that site, didnt really know what i was looking for to be honest. Here is more info on my problem:

With Vodafone sim: I can send text messages but i cannot make a call, it comes up with "call rejected" or something similar.

With Orange sim: Very weak signal, cannot send text or voice calls.

Could the phoned be blocked, i.e you loose a phone you can get the phone blocked?? Any ideas would be grateful.

    Regards
    Dave

Are you on a prepaid plan? Because sometimes with a prepaid plan, you can send txt but not make calls.

Your phone is possible not unlocked or you dont get signal with your Orange sim in it.

does the phone not have a simcard that functions in it completely?
if its a lost phone, i would recommend returning it as once the user blocks the imei, you will not be able to use it anywhere.

Its blocked as Vodafone do not need an IMEI to send the SMS unlike all the other UK networks.

P.S Your handset will work fine if you move outside of the UK
