I have used previous versions of Nero with no problems at all. I recently upgraded to the latest version and now it takes over 30 minutes to burn a DVD, even though it tells me it is burning at 16x speed and predicts it should take <5 minutes. My setup has not changed and the drive has DMA enabled. Can anyone help?
Two things, it is recommended to burn at a slow speed of around 4X and this Nero API version: 7.2.0.3 and 7.2.0.3b These latest versions of Nero are full of bugs, I recommend you uninstall, run this clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and then install 7.0.8.2 a more stable version from here http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845
Thanks for the advice. It turns out that somehow the drive reverted to PIO from DMA mode, despite the fact that I had specifically checked that! Good old Windows. Uninstalled and reinstalled the IDE driver and everything went back to normal.
