yes you need the cd or the downloaded image.
Its to prevent people installing a game and them giving it to their mates or something and letting others copy it. You have three options which are:

    1. Borrow the game off of someone who has it and copy it (you will need to do further searching on how to copy pc games but it is fairly simple)

    2. Buy the game again (either second hand or brand new)

    3. Download the game nad mount the image onto a vitual drive which will mean that you do not need the cd ever because it will be on a virtual drive (you may need to search the forums if you do not know about virtual drives but mainly myself and others use alcohol 120%)

    lol :)

check out gameburnworld.com for an image file.

go to gamefix on the left hand side and search for "f" for football manager 06.

A virtual drive makes your computer think that there is a physical drive there...but it really isn't.

get a virtual drive here, also known (and free) daemon tools.

it basically saves you the hassle of burning images onto cds and having cds everywhere. You can have it all stored on your pc which is every rewarding if used correctly :)

You should do it with all your games before your wife gets ahold of those. I do it to all mine because I tend to run over the disk with my Chair. Plus, it is annoying to constantly take the disk in and out of the drive if you like to play multiple games in the same day.

You should make a quik launch bar in your task par and put all the shortcut to your games there. That works better than All Programs.

yeah but sometimes its better to make it more of a hassle to get to your games - Keeps down the temptation!

I used to play Microsofts Combat Flight Simulaor with a crack. The crack replaced one file on my hard drive. After the file was replaced the game would NOT ask for the cd, the game played better , NO lag time.

Look around on the different game/forum sites there may be one for your game

yeah i prefer it when there is a crack available that will do that but the trouble is there aren't always cracks for games plus they may not always work and if it has internet play then the chances are you can't play online or it is hard because it thinks you have a copied illegal version lol :)

Yah - a lot of the most popular games have nice patches which work properly, like e.g. (I know its old) Age of Empires II Conq. and Command and Conquer Generals, etc.

If you brake your CD or something you can use a crack/mini-image (great site for this is www.gamecopyworld.com)

You probably won't be able to play online if you do this...make a backup of whatever you coping over and you can always try something else if the crack doens't work
