I am in the mood for a new pc, can you tell me which one is better. I will be using it mainly for encoding using RB pro with procoder 2 and will be playing the occasional game. First one. As AMD give you more bang for your buck theese days. I have got a 3700 and so far no problems just pretty fast. ALso i have that motherboard and no complaints there.
The AMD will run @ 2.0GHz while the P4 will run at 3.2GHz does'nt that mean a faster PC? I could probably overclock the Athlon processer to 2.4 - 2.6GHz with that motherboard. Like I said this machine will be mainly for encoding movies using DVD-Rebuilder Pro with Procoder 2 and sometimes CCE. Thanks for the reply
You can't compare frequencies between amd and intel. The amd might be running at 2Ghz but it does more work per cycle. It's equivalent you be the pentium 3.4Ghz
I have the same setup as the first and am in love with the DVD encoding. Your pentium will take a dump in the middle of encoding and web surfing. Where as the X2 3800+ will handle it with no problem.
Dude if you want to game at all go with the amd.Trust me and yes the amd 2.2 is just as fast if not faster than the intel 3.2. I honestly would go with nvidia for gfx but it's up to you, both do a great job .With that kind of rig you will smoke any game on the market. you may want to consider a motherboard that supports SLI too.Not that you would need it with that kind of gfx card.
