Nero API version: 7.2.0.3 and 7.2.0.3b These latest versions of Nero are full of bugs, I recommend you uninstall, run this clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and then install 7.0.8.2 a more stable version from here http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845
Sorry I misread the version, Nero has snuck this one in without any great fanfare, I think its a commercial version, at this stage I am NOT game enough to try it they have made so many "stuff ups" in releasing new versions that I am now a little "gun shy", I will sit back and wait til the error logs start coming in. You could act as a guinea pig and try it and let us know how you find it, Cheers.
Nero version 7.2.3.2b heres the changelog. Changes/Bugfixes * Nero Burning ROM and Nero Express crashed after the DEMO version had expired. * Bad, scratchy sound when encoding files to mp3 using the 'standard' settings * Multisession was not automatically selected when burning to the image recorder. * UNC support of Nero did not work anymore, so continuing a multi session CD with UNC paths did not work. * Nero Burning ROM did not use the selected partition to create a boot CD. * Nero Express crashed under Windows 98 when adding protected WMA files to a compilation. * Nero Burning ROM had graphical problems under Windows 98 when changing the menu options any kind of animation. * It was possible to select the ISO file system view in the folder panel of the compilation, although a UDF compilation was chosen. * Error message was shown when starting to convert Audio CDs to Nero Digital Audio download here http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/nero7-up.php
R.E. Nero 7.2.3.2 I'll wait this one out as well, at least until Gwen gives me the green light that the water is fine. They mention a couple of bug fixes, but in the past they usually introduce more bugs thean they killed off. Maybe if Nero employed the same software writers that Slysoft uses, we wouldn't have so many problems now would we?
I only use three modules from the latest update and have had no problems. I use Recode express rom only. Thats all I install with custom install. You will find a button for nero search in the tray at the bottom of screen that is almost impossible to get rid of!
Yep, it's true Nero has now released another version to the unsuspecting public.promising new changes. Only 1hour ago I read my FIRST error log for the day and guess what....it was from Neros latest release 7.2.3.2b.....so they've fixed the bugs in this one....[bold]I dont think so[/bold]
Actually, it's rather easy. Click on the Nero Search taskbar item and select options. Make sure you tick the box that says "Enable Nero Scout". Then uncheck the options for showing the Search taskbar item. Then uncheck the Enable Nero Scout and voila! Granted, it is a pain, and certainly not something that should be enabled by default, at least without the option of disabling it during the install.
just info Disable Nero Scout in Nero 7 Software Utilities The latest version of the Nero CD/DVD burning suite, Nero 7, installs a media database component called Nero Scout. This also adds several entries to your Windows startup, including NmBgMonitor.exe and NMFirstStart.exe which can hog system resources. Nero Scout has also been reported to cause all sorts of problems in Windows and with Nero. In this article we'll tell you how to disable Nero Scout. It should be noted that NmBgMonitor.exe and NMFirstStart.exe are not spyware. What does Nero Scout do? Ahead Software, the makers of Nero, have a web page for Nero Scout which can be viewed here. http://www.nero.com/nero7/eng/Nero_Scout.html Basically, the program is a media indexer. It constantly runs in the background, looking for new media files, i.e. MP3s, videos, and photos. When it finds such a file, it adds it to its own internal database. The database is used by other Nero programs, such as Wave Editor, Burning ROM, and PhotoSnap. The only purpose for the database is to give you a more convenient way to access those media files, without having to navigate the folders on your hard drive. Unless you are a hard-core user of all of Nero's programs, Nero Scout is a useless piece of software bloat. How do I get rid of Nero Scout? The first thing to do is to disable Nero Scout via its own interface. To do so, double-click on the My Computer icon. Right-click on the Nero Scout icon and choose Options. Then uncheck the option for Enable Nero Scout. Reboot your PC and see if you are still experiencing problems. If you are, and you are running Nero 7, you can also perform the following actions: Click on the Start button and choose Run. Type the following line exactly as it appears: regsvr32 /u "%COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Ahead\Lib\MediaLibraryNSE.dll" Then click OK and reboot your PC. We hope that future versions of Nero will make it easier to disable system resource hogs like this program. Otherwise, Ahead Software will start to see their loyal fan base disappear. http://www.help2go.com/article260.html
Thanks for that info. I had already used that regedit solution to get rid of scout. So I didn't have that choice with options it just gave a fault code! I just reinstalled and used repair to get rid of it. Noted a long way around but it worked.
@killa711 For what it's worth a friend who's had this issue too w/ mp3 conversion no longer has it with the latest version. He's only burned 1 so far. He saw it in the release notes too. (txs for those btw Ireland!) I can never seem to find the most current on Nero sites - what am I missing! Kinda funny since Nero said they couldn't reproduce problem. I've downloaded it but haven't installed it yet. May install it & play with it some soon though.
Try saving this site for all the current and past versions of Nero, so you can install one that you like and that really works. www.filehippo.com
Okay I took the plunge and installed the latest Nero 7.2.3.2b. The b usually worries me (beta) but I don't know Nero's version labeling process beside numerical - b for beta or break fix or none of the above So far just used Recode tonite. 2 backups no problems. Total time each about 25 mins same as 6.6.0.18 w/ compression around 80%. Disabled Scout. Memory usage was nothing out of the ordinary. I'll do a mp3 conversion tomm and see how that goes. May get into Vision too where it seems the prev versions had most of the problems.
Oh no Gwen - you're not off the hook I can only try so many of the apps and different file types. You do more .avis than I do. Vision seemed to have the most problems like the audio sync bit.
Theres no way in the world am I going to download it, I will stick to 7.0.8.2, so far it hasnt let me down, Cheers.
Hi, Where's the pioneer spirit. You don't know what your missing. This version is the best yet. For those who still won't take the plunge. It's worth getting the latest CD/DVDSpeed 4.51.3. Get it from here. http://www.micheldeboer.nl/firmware/utilities/NeroCDSpeed_4513.zip This includes help file (although the dated version 1) & for BenQ/Philips users ala42s EnableSolidBurnReg.This allows enabling/disabling SB & OS via CD/DVDSpeed.
