i got the seagate external hard drive 300gig. Is it possible to load programs in it just like my internal hard drive? I would like to load my video editing program on it to help relieve the lack of space. I would also like to load some of my other large programs on it too. Also will I be able to utilize my windows xp prof. this drive too?
Yes, any program you want to install onto it will still be usable. But, you internal hard drive(C:/) will still be used for things like system files in the Windows folder. I'm not sure about the OS on the external. I would guess if the external was the hard drive you originally installed the OS on it would work.
thanks for your reply. I have my OS insatalled on my (C:/)drive. Would it automatically work on my external drive too. Would the OS be loaded on my eternal drive too?
not sure what you mean. As of now, I have my OS running on my (C:/)drive. I would like to have my OS running on both my (C:/)drive and the drive used by my external hard drive so I can utilize the programs and windows desktop.
why have windows on external hd unless used different os than what is on c:drive? what windows are you using for c: & want to use on external?
I am using Windows XP Professional. I want to run some of my programs on the external hard drive just like I'm doing for my (C:/)drive. I only have 20gb left on my (Cdrive. I am saying I would like to use my windows XP operating system on my (C:/) drive as well as the drive I use for my external hard drive. Will I be able to do this once I install the seagate hard drive?
install the programs on external but leave xp on c:drive as unlikely can run 2 xp pros on same computer
