Hi all this laptop (Averatec 7160-EC1) is goin on sale for $999.99, yes i know at costco.com it says 999.99 -> 949.99 but i got a coupon that says 1149.99 -> 999.99 at my local costco. I was wondering if I should get it. I have no problems with the weight and I was lookin for one around $1000. It would be for a combination of entertainment and school. Seems like a good deal to me, but hell what do I know? Sorry no upgrades T_T it comes as is I believe. Its like a walk in and buy not order online hehe. Its on sale from July 3rd to 9th so i gto some time to think about it. The most major problem i have with it is battery life 2 hours :/. would that video card be suffiecient to play most games? quality doesnt matter a lot (though at least some lol) but as long as the game will run it should be fine.
http://reviews.cnet.com/Averatec_71...ID=7&messageID=2025729&cval=2025729&tag=uolst Don't forget, laptops aren't really designed for gaming, prepare to be disappointed...or not, all depends on what sort of game. Top end games will [bold]really[/bold] struggle. At least you can upgrade to 2gig of RAM (according to above review), would recommend that ASAP.
Well, i realize the video sucks memory from the RAM, but if the game is the only thing im running do i really need 1 gig anyay? I dont think i can get an upgrade when i buy it so id have to pay someone to do that as well as buy 2 gigs of RAM. (it comes with 2 512s so i would need 2 1 gigs instead) But... im poor lol. It might actually be cheaper to upgrade the video card if possible hehe.
Also remember thats 2 hours at stable doing nothing. Gaming you may if your lucky get an hour! Seriosuly if you want a gaming rig then get a desktop pc unless you have a real good reason to get a laptop.
I have a desktop lol this would be for gaming on the go >_< and most places i go there will eb outlets and im gonna buy an adfapter that changes car power to AC power so i dont think ill have much of a problem. it will be plugged in most of the time.
