    Im using Memorex Cd R. Im down to 8. So they do work. I tried to burn a cd last night and it failed because they were wmv, not mp3's. So i decided to redo it and and find the mp3's for that album that i was burning. Now ever since then it won't accept my memorex cd's? My drive doesn't detect it. Ive tried 5 different cd's and it keeps ejecting it out. Is this my nero or is this my pc drive. How do i fix it?... i have been up all night trying to figure out this out this problem. I tried uninstalling my driver. Didn't work. I tried uninstalling nero. Didn't worked. I dont know what else to do. I did some searching in this forum. I came across this thread
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/206497 this guy seemed to have the same problem except my nero was working and it was detecting blank cds for a while until last night. I skimmed through the thread and notice that you guys advised him to use the nero burning rom not nero express to burn the cd's. Whats the difference? My drive will not detect any kind of blank cd's...cd r/cd w. How do i fix this? Im currently using nero 7.

    Hi petjelly
    Welcome to aD
    Post your last Nero log and let's see what we can sort out for you.
    It can found at program files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.
    Just be sure to edit out your serial # - usually begins with 1A, 1C or 5C.
    The logs are separated by something like this:
    ====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======
    Just copy and paste what's between this.

    @petjelly
    Your drive needs a firwware update - this should help it recognize the discs.
    If this is a dell pc the latest is T106. Here's a link:
    http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=276

    Update the firmware then check this - put a blank in the drive. Go to Nero ToolKit>Info Tool.
    Click in the disc tab - is nero able to give you the manufacturer info and burn speeds?

    When you put the floppy in the drive look in 'my computer' under 'devices w/ removable storage'? Double click on the floppy drive (usually A). Is it accessible?
    If they're not formatted for some reason you can format them in windows or dos.

    @gwen
    Looks like petjelly's drive firmware needs to be updated via floppy
    Not the most common way now a days:)

    yes it's accessible... and yes i formatted it. It doesn't seem to update. I click on setep. A black box pops up says... says "insert a fomratted diskette in drive a and then click enter to continue or ctrl c to exit. I click enter... and nothing happens. I just stare at this box. Is there another way i can update my firwware. This is not working.

    I don't know what to do. I just updated my driver. And it still doesn't work.

    Ive tried
    Unstalling and reinstalling nero.
    Uninstalling and reninstalling my hardrive.
    Updating nero versions.
    Updating my hard drive??????

    It still will not detect anything. This all happen after nero failed to burn wmv's songs. It was my fault i realised what i did. I know that is the reason that my drive is messed up because before that it was working smooth and it had no problem detecting my memorex cd r blanks cd's. After the failed burn... nothing but trouble. Is this a virus? Am i screwed? lol or should i say... is my hardrive screwed?

    Well petjelly your pc may not be screwed. I'm guessing you downloaded the mp3's.
    Here's some more suggestions:
    *Clean up your hard drive of any files you no longer need (how much free space do you have btw?)
    *Run a full virus scan and a spyware scan
    *Run a disc clean up
    *Do a system defrag
    If you virus scan & spyware come up clean try again. Fails then post the log.
    If they don't some up clean - post back what they find.

    CHECK!:Clean up your hard drive of any files you no longer need (how much free space do you have btw?)I have 6.09 GB free space and 21% free space
    CHECK!:Run a full virus scan and a spyware scan
    CHECK!:Run a disc clean up
    CHECK!:Do a system defrag

    Heres the log and what it found. After doing all this driver still does not detect any blank cd's. Ive done everything. :(
