Hiya. Just started using ConvertXtoDVD after some good advice from the Afterdawn forum. I have a problem now though because I have 2 parts of a movie that I want to convert into a single DVD5 . I tried converting them both as seperate files, but the result was a 5gb file which is too big for a DVD5. Am I missing something simple? The procedure with Nero is, I know, very straightforward, but I cant seem to find the link to join the files. Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Using ConvertXtoDVD, go into the settings. On the encoding tab you can set the file output maximum size. Set it for no more than 4360. I have mine set at 4300 and never have a problem.

Thanks for the reply. OK, I had it set to DVD5, which I thought would limit the size to that which fits on to a dvd5. Obviously not !! Have reset to 4300. Will the two files play as a continuous movie once they are burned to DVD?

Yes, they should. I always perfer to take the extra time and combine them first.

As far as them playing continuously, they should; but I've always had to join my avi's manually with a program like easy video joiner. The reason why is because ConvertXtoDvd will only convert the first half to dvd and stop! I'm not saying this will necessarily happen when you try it, but if it doesn't, I'd like to know, so I can figure out what's wrong with mine. Good luck.

I just did a conversion to test it out using two files to see of there would be any stop. I also checked for pauses, skips or artifacts in the finished job. Everything completed without any problems. So, check your settings or maybe do an uninstall/reinstall.

OK the picture freezes for a few seconds in the finished movie at the point the two files are joined. Is there a way to avoid this ? Also a lot of two file movies are not split correctly, i.e a couple of seconds are duplicated from the end of file one and the beginning of file two. Is there an editing tool that can be used in conjunction with ConvertXtoDVD to remedy this ? Thanks again for all assistance.

OK easy video joiner worked well enough but I still need a tool to let me edit the files so they do not repeat the same scene in the middle of the movie. Any ideas as the best tool for the job ?

Cancel that! Easy video joiner says it has joined the two files but when i play the so called joined video, it is only the first file. Any other ideas folks ?

    MGEG Video Wizard.

You can use it with some AVI files but it really does well with mpg's.
