I have a lite on 52x24x52 cd-rw, brand new. It worked fine on Windows 2000. I just took out my old hard drive and put in a new one, and installed windows XP on it. Now, my Lite on won't read any CDs (of I know of). It also lags up when I put in a CD. When I put in a data CD with drivers, programs, etc. It will not let me open any of the setups. It says Applicaton Error: The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006). Click on OK to terminate the application. How do I fix this?

    hi

i myself have xp with sp1! do you have sp1 on?

i am about to load to new hard drives today! i too have a liteon 52x and will see if i get this error as i have mega things loaded on this one and all works fine! would be intersting to find out if by installing a new system the drives are seen straight off?

i have been reading alot of this on forums todate! the not seeing drives issue! so i thought i'd give this thread a bump as it may concern me this afternoon! some people sayuse the FORCE ASPI layer tool but not sure if thats the problem? when i have had problems before i just go to device manager and uninstall all cd drives and reboot and let windows instal them again by itself! try it...

    thx.......

    EDIT

also had simalar thinking of it with cd's i burnt! i uninstalled alcohol! then reinstalled nero and updated to aspi layer 471a

all fine then! symptoms were put cd in and took 10 mins to autorun!!!! but it did if left! do above and all fine!

must add i burnt them when problem was there! so discs were burnt in slow mo? but after doing the above burnt discs are fine and open up straight off now! back to normal! not sure if it was the virtual drive thing in alcohol?????_X_X_X_X_X_[small]XP 1700 TBred [Fan 28-Idle/32-Load/23M] [o/c 2004mhz = 12X167/33 = FSB-334mhz]
