Oh Red - if it's the dog one I saw that - it is pretty good.
@garmoon - glad you liked Burn After Reading! Yeah I thought McDormand and Pitt we're a total trip. Even George Clooney had his moments.

The one with the dog. I rented this sometime ago and it surprised me how good it was for a movie I had not heard except for in a dvd preview

Glad you liked Red. If you have seen Quarantine, see if you can "aquire" a movie by the name of REC. This is the original story, from Spain, hopefully with some subtitles. This is such a great movie. Quarantine is the remake of this. Don't know when or if this will come out on dvd in the states but it is well worth it

Sex Drive was probably one of the funniest "teeny" bopper movies I have seen lately. Australia I have yet to see, i might just pop it in the dvd tonight.
For anyone that likes foreign films, in case you have missed them, their is a series of movies from Korea in the "revenge" type of theme. They are Old Boy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Lady Vengeance aka Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. All three are separate stories but all use the same cast and director, Old Boy, although somewhat disturbing, the best of the three, IMO.

Went to see Watchmen today with the two kids and two of their friends. My son, who loved the book was quite impressed with the movie and gave it eight out of ten. His friend wasn't particularly impressed with it, he didn't think it was great at all. My daughter liked it and so did her friend, personally i found it felt very long (nearly three hours) and would only give it a six. Having said that, i'm not into superhero movies, Superman, Batman etc wouldn't really be my cup of tea at all, so i'd be interested to get someone else's opinion on it. :)

Watchmen-I never read the book, but it was a bit different than what I expected. It wasn't just a normal skull breaking-arse-woopinng-superhero-flying kinda movie. It actually had a story, a moral conflict and all that. I liked it enough, (these kind of movies are my cup of tea; cannot wait wait for "Wolverine","Thor","Captain America","Magneto", "Iron Man 2"... to come out), even though I had expected to see all these heroes with all kinds of abilities beating the bejeezers out of each other, and instead, it was just all mighty Dr. Manhattan alone that had any super powers.
And of course, now I wonder, who would win a confrontation between the blue DR. Manhattan and the flying Silver Surfer :)!

I guess it would have to be Dr Manhattan, seeing as he sees all of time simultaneously! :)
If he bothered to turn up for it of course! ;)

Saw Taken yesterday and Quantum of Silence today. T-8 QoS 9.5 I got a copy of Valkyrie from a friend also. Is it any good?

Garmoon - do you mean Quantum of Solace?
Valkyrie - while I think Tom Cruise is whacked he is a good actor. The movie is good though I was expecting more I think because of the history/background of the mission. Just me though.

Just finished watching an Indian movie called Sarkar. This movie is great. It takes inspiration from the Godfather series and basically, with very few contrasts, the movie is a very good attempt at recreating the Godfather movie. Now I am about to throw in the sequel into the DVD, called Sarkar Raj. I also saw a British movie (I think) called The Children. Kind of a goofy synopsis but it deals with kids infected with some virus that make them into killers, where in they start to kill adults, mainly there parents. It is a pretty decent flick.
Binkie7, you might want to check this Sarkar movie, it took me by surprise. Make sure plenty of popcorn and drink since this is a long one, over two hours but well worth it

Txs for the tip EnigmaCM - I'm going to check it out.
2 hours isn't bad for an Indian movie - I've watched some that are around 4 hours. They love their song and dance numbers in the movies!

I watched Milk the other evening. I didn't know anything about the movie before i watched it, other than the fact that Sean Penn had won an oscar for it, and i didn't realise it was more of a 'docudrama' style movie about this guy's life than what i would call an actual movie.
Having said that i found it very interesting, but it isn't the style of film i would usually watch. :)

Finally watched Resident Evil Degeneration and can't say too terribly much about the plot other than it was ok. The animation was incredible though.

Binkie, I have some more recommendations: if you have not seen it yet, check out Taking Chance, releases this Tuesday on DVD, an HBO film that retells the story of a Marine Lieutenant performing escort duty for a fellow fallen Marine who died in the Persian Gulf, a nice tear jerker.
Another is El Rey De La Montana aka King of the Hill, a Spaniard movie about people being sniped from a mountain top, has both Spanish and English audio.

Taking Chance is excellent. Kevin Bacon plays a Marine Leiutenant Colonel who volunteers to escort a young PFC's body who was recently killed back to his family. It shows you a side of how the remains get home that haven't been shown before. Had a few scenes I had to hold a few tears back.
