    Hi guys,
I'm having problems burning - the problem being about 10 minutes in on a DVD, the movie skips about 20 seconds then again after about 40 minutes and 90 minutes !!!
I download via giganews, and use autounpack to create either image, vobs or alcohol files - usually just over 4 gig. I've used Nero 7 express, DVDfab, Ulead movie - all resulting in the same. I've changed DVDs - Ridisc x8, ridisc extreme x8 etc - all the same results. I've changed burning speeds. My DVD is an external LG 16X - even updated the drivers on this.
I'm tearing what's left of my hair out!!!
    Any ideas??
    Cheers

It's not regarded as one of the more reliable brands.

    Thanks guys,
You were right - I picked up some Verbatim 4x and these worked like a dream - no problems whatsoever. None of the skipping I had before - No more Ridisc for me!!!

    Hi guys,
Sorry - one last thing I'm about to buy some taiyo from SVP.co.uk in the UK. They are just under 40 quid per hundred (full face printable) - the question is which is better the TYG02 or TYG03 - I realise the burn speeds are different (16X & 8X)- my writer can burn at 16X - so which one would you go for? And is there anywhere to get them cheaper in the UK?
    Thanks guys

I ordered the 8x Taiyo's and I'm going to run them at 4x. I've read a couple places that video should be burned at 4x. I know that's some peoples views but I've switched from burning at 8x to 4x and can see the difference. Rule of thumb seems to be burn at half the rate of the media so if you go with the 16x media make your burn speed 8x..etc etc.
Not sure about the UK..I'm in the US

    Hope that helps.

just something to think about...... my Taiyo Yuden DVD+R, 8x disks can write all the way up to 16x.... as shown here:

I get overburning all the way up to 16x.... that's how good my Taiyo Yuden disks are. I burn them at 8x and get these results:

Will probably go for the 16X - mainly due the fact that there is virtually no difference in price between the 8X and 16X
Thanks for all your help guys
