I have been using a Rio Karma for the last few years and it just went dead. I am in the market again. Anyone have any suggestions. I am not a fan of the iPod. The feature I liked most about the Karma was the ability to say. "Give me a random mix of music that lasts 3,4, or 6 hours" or "Give me a mix of new music added in the day, last week, last month" None of the Web sites seems to promote these types of features. I don't want to manually create playlists. I want the system to server music up to me. I do use Windows Media Player. I also want a very large hard drive 20 gig is perfect anything less that 10 is too small for my collection. Thanks in advance for your suggestions
I really would suggest an iPod for that, i wasn't a fan before i had it, but now i LOVE it, i have the ipod video and the shuffle and the original iPod, but if you want something that does all that, i know iPod will do it all, it has a very large drives and it comes with iTunes (i used to use Windows Media Player) and iTunes is MUCH better. And for the random thing, you will have to half do it, all you have to do would be to create playlists (very easy, drag-and-drop with iTunes) and then go into iPod options and swith shuffle on, then just pick a playlist such as "New Songs" and it will randomly pick a song from that playlist then a next etc.. Although the iPod is fairly big for an mp3 player, you will soon get used to it, and it really isn't that big. There is also somthing in iTunes known as "Smart Lists" which you could give it a keyword in anyfield of information (like Artist, Genre, Year, etc...) and whenever you put a song with that same info in your library it will automaticlly add it. I would highly recomend the iPod to anyone who can afford this and is looking for a straight forward, easy to use, nice to look at music player If you want somthing that has more functionality then just listening to mp3s, such as radio and etc you will want something such as the iRiver H10 which I would also recomend, it doesn't quite have the harddrive space as an iPod but its got lots of functionality
I use that feature on my Zen Vision:M all the time, other than the litttle added size, your getting the same exact Ipod GUI, features(plus voice recorder, fm radio and recorder, etc.) for the same price, 300, 30 gigs, totally recomended.
thanks for the help guys. I picked up a zen sleek for $100 bucks. I could not pass it up at that price.
