Verbatim 8x DVD-R
verbatim 8x DVD+R (with bitsetting to enable DVD-rom)
---- VS -----
Verbatim 16x DVD-R
verbatim 16x DVD+R (with bitsetting to enable DVD-rom)

First of all i would like to say thank u for taking a pic at my thread, i will need all the help i can get, so please read on.

Now straight to the nitty gritty stuff,

I have browsed the "PS2 - DVD backup discussion" for what im about to ask your but i seem to get mixed feelings from many people about the best verbatim media to use when performing PS2 game backups.
So i ask u my fellow AFTERDAWN members ----> What is the best verbatim media i should use for my PS2 backups--> Should i use the 8x verbatim or should i use the new 16x verbatim that is quickly replacing the 8x verbatim version?.

I have seen that many people prefer the 8x versions of the verbatim dvd-r/dvd+r media ---OVER--- the new 16x versions of the verbatim media.

So my other question to those who prefer the 16x media is ---> WHY should i use the 16x media over the 8x ,,,,and will the 16x media work with the PS2?

---------------------------------------------------------------------PS :

for the drive specs:
DVD +- RW drive in use is = GSA 4166b Super multi drive.

for the PS2 model number and version in use:
SONY SCPH-30003 R (PAL)
version 5/version 6 (v5/v6)

imo, I don't think it'll make a big difference if you get 8X or 16X but, I would recommend using -r and not burning at more than 4X. A lot of people will say they burn at 16X and have no problems but, in my experience slower burns usually turn out better then fast burns. As for why I would recommend -r it's because most ps2s just read them better. Having said that, it seems that the slims don't have too much of a preferance when it comes to media type.

NTSC DNAS threads.

The only advice I can give you if you do use 16x discs (as I do), burn them at 8x. 4x will give you headaches when using 16x discs. Also, if your burner can booktype +r to dvd-rom then I'd say go with the DVD+R's instead of the -r's.
