    nVidia Firewall eh?
It will have its own program, on the Start Menu (and Add/Remove Programs list).
You didn't really 'uninstall' it did you? They were simply advising you to check its settings or temporarily disable it...
It has its icon, bottom-right, beside the clock. You don't have these icons set to be 'hidden', do you?
Task Bar > Properties > Hide Inactive Icons - this is stupid. Anything displayed there, in the tray, is NOT inactive by definition as it starts, uses memory and runs, everytime you turn on your rig.
If you hide them, who knows WTF is starting up (and where your memory is disappearing)?
The nVidia firewall will offer to use Windows firewall + nVidia AntiHacking only - this is a fairly unobtrusive setup, and easy to temporarily disable.
If you are behind a nice NAT-firewall router anyway, these things are of less importance...
If you connect to WWW 'direct', I would re-install the nVidia software though (and use it).
I would buy a Router before I would install ZoneAlarm etc. (Routers are inexpensive).
    Regards
