I am currently shopping for a new videocard. I am now using a Nvidia 6600GT its getting outdated its time for a new one. I have owned atleast half a dozen of different videocards ever since Ive started messing with computers. Ive had a ATI 9800pro, ATI 9800SE which I softmodded to give it 8 pipes,Nvidia Geforce3,Nvidia Geforce2 and some other old ones probably not worth mentioning because theyre ancient.
Anyhow, I dont know what I should get.
please post any comments you have regarding ATI or Nvidia videocards
I will put it into consideration when i make my purchase

Get one that fits your current machine and meets the requirements of the game you want to play. Spend as much as you feel you must (or can) as the card will be outdated very soon anyway.

ATI or Nvidia? Probably does not matter. The battle will continue to go back and forth on who owns bragging rights. OPINIONS always vary and everyone has one!

I recently updated a card on my machine to play Tomb Raider Legend. Wanted to use the 'old' card on wife's machine. Could NOT because my card was a 4X AGP and her machine would only take a 2X AGP. Wife is using my way old machine with Win 98 and it does not matter because she does not play games on it (uses my machine for gaming).

Choices are governed by needs, budget, AGP/PCI/PCI Express, etc; I feel chipset brand ranks way down there.

Ok I went with a ATI X800 GTO.
As a matter of fact its this one here:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102002

I had my eye on it for quite some time now.
It was either this or a Nvidia 6800
but ive heard this one outperforms a 6800.
but im not sure about about the 6800GT version thats a powerful card.
it is probably on par with a 6800GS

    BTW;rulisky
    Thanks for your input.

The card looks like you should be able to kill some demons for a while. Probably beat my GF6200 any day.

Good luck and you are welcome.
