I will either use Nero to burn DVDs from files on my comp that need to be converted. During the conversion process i have seen my screen flicker and not too long into the process my computer will either restart itself or sometimes it will still be on but the screen goes black. When that happens I push the restart button to resest CMOS and my computer reboots. I even have the problem of my computer restarting when i use another program to convert video files from one format to another like from AVI to VCD. I downloaded and installed the update package fro my VIA cpu to agp 2.0/3.0 controller, updated nero to make sure that wasn't a problem and also opened the power supply and it looks alright. I don't know if maybe there is a program i can run to scan my computer and find a problem or if maybe someone might know what is wrong from reading this. So, please help me if u can. Thnx
Sounds like a heat problem. Get a h/w monitor and see what your CPU temps are reading under load. Vid conversion is pretty CPU intesive and can build heat pretty quick. You may want to open un the machine and make sure there is no dust build up in the CPU heatsink/fan. You may also want to consider getting a more efficient cooler. ~Rich
Is the h/w monitor software or is it a temperature gauge that plugs into ur comp? where do i find it and under which name/brand name?
