ok i want to buy a second ethernet port on my computer and i want to know how and wear to install it so it works.....thanks in adavanced for any help
Buy a PCI ethernet card (maybe this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833127102 ). Plug it into an open PCI slot on your motherboard. Install drivers. Use ethernet port. The end.
yeah but how would i plug a ethernet cable into it though would i have to leave the side pannel off..?
The cable will plug into the back of your computer just the same as your speakers and monitor do. ok...my pci slot is on the side of the motherboard ...but besides that for a little more i found this on new egg for $20 ... idk...but that plugs into you usb slot and acts as a ethernet port...i have usb slots if thats what you mean
but do you have usb2 ports as opposed to usb1 as that adapter will run slower if connected to a usb1 port than it would if connected to usb2?
i use an ipod nano connecting cable (which i think is 2.0) so yeah i think so cause i have no problem with it
usb1 & 2 look the same. do you have enhanced usb controller in device manager? what is the chipset as in via, intel, sis or amd of your motherboard?
ok i have an hp pavillion 563w (tower) my ipod uses usb 2.0 and works fine....i have intel inside pentium 4 running windows xp....were would i look to see what your telling me to look for

ok like i said...but besides that....so those 2 usb/ethernet things will work ...if they do the 200mbps one is better right?
