Which option to go for. Im happy buying and booting mini DVD-r's as ill prolly only backup 10-20 'classics'. I dont wanna spend a fortune as having a 360+a job+family+other interests, it wont get a massive amount of playtime. The viper GC seems like the top-dog chip but if m not going to mod the case for full size DVD use then is it worth the extra over something like the Xeno GC which is an easy fit for very little money. What im asking is the following... What are the main benefits of the Viper GC? Can you boot from PC based images? How feisable is it to burn working 1.4gb discs? are there lots of problems with this or do they mostly work fine? Thanks chaps. Az
i would go with the XenoGC... i have it and it works great... Viper and other chips tend to be a multipurpose chip, good for homebrew and stuff, but XenoGC is made just to 'boot the media' as the site says... as for burning 1.4GB images, they almost always work... there are programs out there to check the gamecube image file to see if its ok, and if it isnt, it will let you know and fix it (if possible)...
