    Hello andre112,
    Asus lists the following Socket370 mobo's:
    CUV266; CUV266-D; CUV266-DLS;
    CUV4X; CUV4X-C; CUV4X-CME; CUV4X-D; CUV4X-E; CUV4X-LS; CUV4X-M; CUV4X-ME; CUV4X-V; CUV4X-VM; and CUVL-VM.
    You must determine which one you have! You could run CPU-Z, or physically read info from mobo.
    How did you update your BIOS without proper mobo model...? Just wondering :^)
    Get more info and I can help you,
    Regards

    Hey, thanks for posting,..I downloaded the BIOS update off the hp site. its not on the asus site, its about 6 years old from my HP Pavilion 8766c mobo name:(Asus Pegasus CUV-NT rev. 1.04 North Bridge: VIA VT82C694X Apollo Pro133A, South Bridge: VIA VT82C596B). i tried installing the cpu b4 without the BIOS update, and windows would not load, but after the update, windows xp loaded but froze b4 i could even click on start menu, could it be somthin else? (cause the bios update described it allows further P3 and celeron cpu upgrades)http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&os=209&product=59903&lang=en&softwareitem=pv470en wut bout jumpers on the mobo or the VIA chips? tht was the best i could do for the mobo name haha, thanks for any help =)

    Hey Andre,
    Did you get that old rig running yet?
    Yes of course, everything must be set perfectly. And also BIOS settings, especially CPU and memory related.
    Try and get it running in DOS mode first...
    The scenario you describe sounds like Windows is not happy with something - perhaps memory config?
