I am using Nero Express 6 and trying to create a DVD -r data disk. I have had some compatibility issues reading the DVD's on other systems and wanted to try a slower writing speed. Unfortunately the Writing Speed option in Nero Express is grayed out and can't be changed.

Why would this option be grayed out? Can I change it so that I can try writing at the lowest speed?

    Thanks,

    Hi mgauthier
I've ran into that problem once or 2x when I was using cd's or dvd's that my drive couldn't recognize (mine were poor quality discs actually).
So make sure your drive's firmware is up to date. You can check which version you have in NeroToolKit>Info Tool. On the drive tab there is a field for your version of firmware.
You can see if there is a later version at the manufacturer's site (drive) or here:

What brand of media are you using?

The media I am using is ULTRA 4x compatible from a company in Taiwan. I will buy some brand name media and try that. I will also check the firmware revision as you suggested. Thanks!

For the name brand try these - Verbatim or made in japan only Sony, Fuji or maxell. Good stuff!
