cant play my PS2 cd backup games

everything boots, except for my cdr backup games. both for ps2 and psx. why? pls help.

i have magic 3.1 ps2 v.7
i can play my dvdr games, originals, dvd movies. but not cdr games like contra, marvel vs. capcom, and all my psx backup games. i always get the red screen.

Try booting it like a PSX game- hold down the power button until the reset button turns blue. Also, what brand CD's are you using? I have gotten Memorex CD-R's to work. Have you tried them on another modded box to be sure the CD's work? You may have bad burns from improper burn settings, speeds, etc.

NO, there is not a problem with his burns. I to have this problem and been trying to figure out what is wrong, seems the magic 3.1 in some consoles are picky on the way your games are burnt. some work with alchol 120% better than any other. I have many games that worked perfect in my older chipped machine and now won't work in my 3.1 console. If any one knows what can be done to make these games work in the newer console please let us know..

try to use with instant copy onsale now for 20$
after rebate 20$ . i have back up more than 5
of game they all worked . never have problem
use cheapest dvd-r $ 0.86 . it work real good

I had samething happen on new 3.1 install on v7 it was the media and speed i recorded at reburn a cd at no more than 4x it will work all mine do now.also memorex cdr gave me the most issues I only use tdk now can burn at higher speeds and works great.

for psx games hold reset until blue led comes on, for movies put in sleep mode hold reset until sony screen is on tv.
For the cd-r that dont boot reburn them with nero at slow speed 1x to 4x i had to do the same thing with half my cdr's when i got new v7 ps2.Or buy some tdk media they seem to work beter.

yup having these problems also with psx games. none will work, but all work in my xbox and in my psx....but i have a messiah 2 pro.

I've used CDR backups on a PS2 and XBOX burnt at 48X with no real problems except slightly exaggerated load times in certain games. Always better to burn slower of course but I think sometimes too much emphasis is placed on the burn speed than is truly needed. In my experience it's more down to the disc brand or dye than the burn speed.

Could be just the brand i have a lot of memorex cdr's that had to be reburned at 4x to work but with tdk brand im working my way up 8x works good next i'll try 12x
