But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

if they do buy ati they still wont even be close to intel. It would be like the gamecube having more sales than the ps2.

atleast it levels the grounds, since intel makes their own graphics chips.

i wouldnt even call intel a gc manufacture.Theyre cards are so crap.I had a intel card in my sony vaio and it was crap.It couldnt even play mgs 2 substance. It could just barely play n64 games. My 4 year old ati radeon 9000 is better.Intel stick to processors(youve done a good job of the duo processor)

well my 2.5 year old ibm with intel extreme graphics 2 could play counter strike source on small levels (like aim_'s and fy_'s) well. if amd gets ati, their onboard memory production will dominate.

I don't see where it would make much business sense. Processors have a high markup, they make a good profit on each one, where GPUs are a marginal item, just making a small amount. The aquisition wouldn't really benefit AMD financially. It would take years to make back the outlay on the purchase.
The only way I could see it benefiting AMD is if they want the GPU technology. Why would they want this technology though? That got me thinking of possibilities. The old 386 and 486SX required separate math coprocessors for floating point calculations that is now done by the processor. Other computers had coprocessors for scalar and vector graphics which is now done by the processor. What if the GPU coprocessor functionality was intergrated into the processor as well, just like the older math coprocessors. Then you would have a single chip providing all of the functionalities, at least until the Physics coprocessors take off.

accually your on the right path.
in several years the processor is going to fade out for use in games, an they are going to release something that helps the gpu more. my friend said this some time ago, so i dont know much or if its credible.

if amd dropped support for nforce, i will drop support for them. ati has never made a really good northbridge, and its not really their thing. plus its not amd who decides whats on the mobo unless its unsupported.
