So, I was ripping clips from a dvd last night, right? And I'd been doing it for over an hour, so like, the computer was pretty hot I guess. And I was on the last DVD, and it worked for a while, but when I went to the ripper to do the last clip, suddenly it said there was no DVD. I took the DVD out and put it back in, but the computer wouldn't recognize it, it said it might be corrupted. So I took the DVD out, and on the back there was like this smoky white/brown mark over one side, and like, it looked like it got burnt or somthing. I put it in a regular DVD player, and it worked fine, but I tried the computer again and it still doesn't recognize it.
haha no wayy :-o that like brings a whole new meaning to the phrase burning a dvd lol that is prety strange, are you sure th mark wasnt there already, im sure it wasnt but i jus had to ask . haha a computer that actually burns dvds rather than burning stuff to them
I don't /think/ it was there before. And I've checked all my other DVDs, and none have a similar mark. My friend thinks that maybe the computer melted the area of the DVD that is read by the computer, but it didn't damage the movie on it. I don't know, though, because DVDs are pretty strong.
hmmm, maybe it was already there like cjdj mentioned but i think it could have been caused by something that might have fell into the drive when you inserted the disc to be burned.
just a thought.

its interesting that, lol, i think you might have had the buring speed a bit high, my suggestion is useing DVD Shrink and set the buring speed to x8. Its a good program and will easily be able to do what u want without "buring" your disks. Just a question, but do u have ur computer in an open space or in a cupboard, cus if its in an open space unused heat will move away. Also u might have been over working your computer a bit, you shouldn't realy burn more than two disks in a row, u should let it cool down a bit. To sum that up i think your computer just got over heated.
