Iv got a fairly basic ati tv tuner. Works like a charm and what not, but just wondering....is it posible to Y split my coaxle cable so that one side goes to my cable box and watch tv through that, and take the other side that hasnt gone to the cable box and run it to my tv tuner and still be able to watch tv on it? esentially use the tv card as the cable box.

Doubt it highly, but thought it would be worth asking because my cable box is in a completly diff room, and dont want to have to get up everytime i want to change the channel

I dont have cable so not completely sure about what a cable box is exactly. But if you know what your doing just buy a y-splitter hook it up to your current coaxial/rj-45 cable and make 2 new ones and run them to whatever it is whether it be cable box or pc.

A cable box is the equivalent to to the reciver box for Satelite.

Yeah I believe you can do the y-split.

I know I can do the Y split, i was asking if my comp will serve as the cable box. Or is there like a cable box emulator/descrambler?

why not just y-split the cable on the other side (output) of the cable box? then send 1 to your pc and 1 to your tv? that way the cable coming out of your cable box is being sent to both?

because my comp is on the otherside of my apt, and i dont want to have to keep walking backforth between rooms to change the channel

your computer can work as a cable box, couple of downsides though

    1. computer must be on if you are going to use that exclusivly instead of a pass through

2 no digital cable, there are no tuners in america that will do digital cable, you will still be able to get the first 99 channels but after that your outta luck
