I recently purchase Partition Magic. I downloaded the Beta 2 of Vista a while back and have never bothered until now to install it. I want to do it on another partition, so that I can run it without getting rid of XP. So anyway, I got Partition Magic to make a new partition to install Vista. When trying to make the partition on my C Drive (I am only using one HDD), it rebooted the computer and went into a DOS-like screen. The process had started, but shortly through it, I got the message: Error 1517 while executuing Batch Error 1517: Required file attribute missing I have tried multiple times with absolutely no luck. I cannot seem to get this disk partitioned if my life depended on it. I am completely new at this, and would really appreciate any help I can get. Thanks in advance.
yeah i have had problems with that before... but if anyone else knows how to partiton please respond( is it possible to make partitions without having a software?)
Here is a possible solution. Try looking into a little gem called HDD Regenerator. To explain the above problem....some programs that require another string of attributes will run automatically. This will give you errors....just bugs in the program. I've used HDD regenerator before and was very pleased. Hope this helps. An no, as far as I know, there is no way to make another poartion...oh wait! Try The Administartive Tools function under Control Panel, that might work.
