Alright, I'm new to these forums and it looks as if you guys may be of some assistance, so here is my problem overview.

I'm a dial-up user, unfortunatley, and I discovered an annoying icon in my toolbar about 3 days ago. It continues to pop up in about 3 minute intervals saying Download 'such and such' antivirus. I didn't think much of it at first. Then soon after I started to get disconnected from the internet irregularily, and my browsing speed is even slower than usual. I've tried system restore, but it does absoloutly nothing. I've downloaded multiple spyware removing products but nothing is doing the trick.

I just want to be able to stay on the internet for appropriate periods of time, without being disconnected...and for the annoying messages in my toolbar to go away.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. =]

Try running spybot S&D in safe mode.
