    First Problem. .
I have been using an old version of Neiro with a plug-in for a long while but it hasn’t worked since I did a disc cleanup and a defrag on my hard drive last week. My computer said it found a virus called “Download” and I deleted it. It also seemed to make an up-grade to my Neiro. I have been wanting to try CloneDVD2 and Anydvd anyway, so I bought them a couple days ago. I have read three different instruction guides to using it and can’t get it to work either.
I have a D: DVD +- RW drive and a E: DVD Rom Drive. I can still write cds with my RW drive. It recognizes a dvd and cd in the D: Drive, but at the end of CLONEDVD2, when it gets ready to write, it gives me an “ Write DVD 10 11 W2” Error. It will not recognize my blank media in my D drive. I’m using a Sony computer and Sony DVD-R Discs which have never failed me yet.
Clonedvd2 tells me to “Put Media in” Error – insert writable media.
I’ve tried all combinations I could think of. I have my DVD speed set at 8X
I set and run the [DVD Writer] to D: Sony DVD RW DW-D22A(rev.BFS1)
Any help is much appreciated!!! Thanks

Go to google and do a search for that error.

I did and tons of things came up about it. To many things to go into detail on here.

Some it was casued by media issues some was caused by frimware needed upgraded some due to the burrner dieing on them.

So as I said do a google search and you will find alot of info about that error.

Due to the timing of your problems showing up after you did a disk clean-up, and deleting a couple of files, perhaps you have corrupted your Nero files or your ASPI layer. Suggestion, reinstall the problem programs, you can find Nero at www.filehippo.com, older versions as well, and Nero has an ASPI tool to check the ASPI layer which sometimes (Usually) affects burning abilities of some drives.
some more info can be found here about your drive
    http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?category=4&manufactor=30
    Hope that this helps.

Nero uses its own ASPI, and Version 7 uses XP's SPTI, you do not need an ASPI installed to have this program run beautifully. ASPI is only needed for older programs that require it, otherwise it may in the long run cause problems rather than cure, here is a nice read on ASPI, you can pick out those posters you know on this thread.

Ah, thanks for the info, now I am much more enlightened on this misconception of ASPI, Thanks Arnie.

There are still some programs that will require and Aspi, I know IMTOO does, but for the most part none of the regular burning programs do, they usually have their own interphase or use SPTI. Clone uses Elby, DVDFab the pay program and VSO use Patin-Couffin, Nero has its own or now uses SPTI, and DVD Decrypter uses SPTI. I have come to the conclusion if it is really needed install it, I have never had it and my programs all run fine.

OK...Trying to think back....A long time ago, I had purchased Nero 6.
I had to upgrade or get a plug-in or something. I have a cd with version 6.6.0.18 on it. I think this is what I ended up using and it worked great for a long time. Should I try re-enstalling this 6.6.0.18 version again? Does it work well with AnyDVD? If so, I guess I'll forget about using CloneDVD2. Am I missing anything here?

CloneDVD and Nero work fine together, just try reinstalling the offending software and you should be fine.

ok, I reinstalled nero 6.6.0.18 and still, it won't burn a dvd.
I still get error message "insert media in drive" it doesn't see the dvd in the drive. Strange, I can play dvds in this drive and burn cds in this drive.
    Error message "Write DVD 10 11 W2"

Maybe someone can figure out where my problem started.

After it failed, the diagnostic read:

InCD doesn't work with the rest of Nero, get rid of that and we'll see what else is going on.

You are using a 16x rated media on a burner that has not had any supported fw updates.......none in over a year. Your burner is not recognizing this media. Try something else 8x if you can find it.

bliveNC, I’m afraid I’m not computer savvy enough to know where to find or how to take the InCD drivers out. Is there a guide for doing this?

Arniebear, ok, I will get a different media to try out. Note* I have never had a problem with any brand in the past. When I ran Disc Cleanup and defrag on my computer, that’s when my drive stopped recognizing the media was in the drive.

    Thanks

    Thanks,
Note* Using CloneDVD2, yesterday, I found a weblink that took me to a page with a program for me to download to check my drives! I downloaded it fine. Halfway though the installation, it ran into errors and I had to abort the installation.

Removed Clone dvd, Any Dvd, Nero from Computer. Restarted. Downloaded all programs again. Restart. Downloaded ASPI_v471.exe from Adaptec {suggested by online support} Restarted computer, held my breath and got a "media write error" when the files went to burn. I am starting to wonder if a need a new dvd burner (computer is not even a year old)...

OK, so what next? I have gone through with the above links on the INcd problem. After that, it took me to Microsoft for upgrades. Did that. Reinstalled anydvd and clonedvd2. Still not doin' it. Next I think I will go back to SlySoft and try to run their help program again. It downloaded but had problems installing the first time. Maybe this time, better luck. Also, I need to try with a different dvd media. Seems unlikely that it will fix it, but I haven't done that yet, anyway.
    Any other suggestions very welcolme!!
    Thanks

    Hmmmm. What to do next?
I'm not only having problems with dvds, but cds as well now.
I turned on Itunes yesterday and got this message:
"Warning. The registry settings used by the itunes drivers for importing and burning cds and dvds are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other cd burning software. Please reinstall Itunes."

I can import music into itunes but I can't burn cds!
When I try to burn I get the message, "Disc Recording Not Found."

There is allot of stuff in my itunes that I would like to not loose by reinstalling itunes. Any way to move all of it beforehand? Do you think re-installing itunes is really going to help my situation anyway???
