If you have the standby modem you can put yours on standby and than that makes you lag so you see them go faster. Not 100% sure how to do it.

Not to get too off topic but....back in the day while playing Halo2 I used stand-by, but not with the modem button. I figured out that you could stand-by (only if your host of the game...this applies on the modem use as well) using your Linksys Wireless-G Access Point if your using wireless online play. I used the stand-by by pulling one of the plugs (couldn't tell you which one because I'm Networking illiterate) to stop the play of the other players.
Their are only 3 know versions of stand-by which can be applied to the other players:

    1. This is the normal stand-by which has you pulling the plug (in my case) to completely halt the active connection of the other players.

    2. This versions has you rapidly starting and stopping the connection to dramatically lag the other players (this is used more often, because if you use the first type of stand-by to often you'll will lag yourself out of the game and pass the host to someone else).

    3. This type is the most hard to portray. This type stops the connection for a long length of time to stop all of the active player’s connection causing the game to boot the person with the weakest connection (not the host) to revive the internet feed.

    4. There’s also a 4th type of stand-by that most people don't know about which has massive precedence over (the evil) moders. This one by far takes the most practice. It’s a combination of 1st, 2nd and 3rd, example:
Say you are the victim of the stand-by user and he is looking at you square in the eyes in front of you but not moving...if you look at your connection it still says red and he still isn’t moving, then the networking updates and he appears right behind you and strikes in the back for a one hit kill.
This version works by also stopping the connection of the other people but as well as stopping the Live feed without destroying the game. It may seem a little like the first but it kills the connections updates so the stand-byer can move around the game like poltergeist.
