Verizon DSL internet problem

    Ok i have verizon dsl and my internet shuts off during thunderstroms and EVEN regular RAIN!!! when there is a thunder storm it shuts off about every 5 minutes also every time u hear thunder is shuts off and when it rains it shuts on and off same way as a thunder storm it pisses me off so bad. The wires for the modem are so senstitive that even it u touch it or move it the internet shuts off!! Can anyone please help me out with this, thanks.

    I'd check with Verizon (or whoever your phone carrier is). If you have an "inside wiring" contract, they should fix it for you free. I suspect you have some exposed wiring somewhere - probably outside the house, maybe on a TNI (Telephone Network Interface), but it CAN happen inside walls and basements too. I would suspect moisture is grounding out your phone signals, though moisture between lines (e.g. a power cable and a phone line) can also introduce enough interference to royally screw up DSL. If you ever notice static or hum on your line, your wiring might be in generally bad shape.

    There was one big storm last week that screwed up my DSL and made it disconnect after every time someone called and the light would turn red from time to time. It seems to be better now. If I were you, I would call verizon. Theyll send someone over to look at it and hell have an extra modem just incase. The customer service is suprisingly good.
