problem with LCD screen pls some one help

    i have a sony vaio laptop purchased from UK.one fine day while i was trying to write a DVD the hard disk crashed and suddenly my X-BLACK LCD screen appeared different.about 65% of the screen form bottom appeared shaded and the remaining 35% of thr top portion remained perfect.i treid connecting to a tv monitor and theere was no problem with the display.so the problem is with the connection between the LCD and the main unit.someone please help me to solve this problem...

    Erm, I fail to see how the machine crashing could cause the screen to mess up, or vice versa. Have you tried changing the resolution and colour settings, does it still stay the same?
