I have a mini hometheater system with built-in amplifier total 750watt output (active subwoofer) with the following inputs:
    * 5.1 input for surround sound only (FL,FR,SL,SR,CENTER) and the other 2 composite dvd/cd inputs, no digital input.
Lately I've purchased 50" panasonic plasma with HDMI and optical in and output.
What kind of A/V receiver shoud I buy so I can enjoy 5.1 surround sound to go with my OLD MINI home theater system? AND I don't have to buy new speakers

    Thank you

well I would look at 3 options

if your loaded with cash get a harmon kardon reciever

a little bit below that is a yamaha

and then finally in the bargin bin would be onkyo

please take in mind that when I say bargin bin, the onkyo can run anywhere from 300-500 bucks for a reciever

most hk's start at a grand and go up

btw I own 2 onkyo 7.1 recivers and they rock!
