i have a pentium 4 northwood processor@ 3.2ghz with 800mhz fsb socket 478 with hyperthreading and i have (2) single sticks of pc3200 memory that are 1024mb each.my question is which motherboard will support this setup better.the asus p4p800se 865pe or the SOYO-P4I865PE Plus Dragon2.both boards will support a 3.2ghz processor, but im wanting one that can handle what i have without any problems.the price for the soyo is alot cheaper than the asus, but im not worried about the price.i want the best board. if anyone can help, please do.thanks
Dont buy the SOYO!!!! Asus is hands down the single best Motherboard company on the market. And is the only company I purchase from when bulding PC's for customers. Asus is the only way to go.
ive bought 3 soyo boards in the past and the one i am using now is a soyo.1 of them with the pt800 chipset is junk.ive never used the asus brand board but have read alot of good things about it. so thanks for the help.im going to wait and see if anyone can tell me if the cpu and memory that i have will work with the asus board that i mentioned above without crashing or any other problems.thanks
Here is the spec of the Asus board, it will support your CPU no problem as all BIOS levels support that CPU. http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=179&l1=3&l2=12&l3=31 As for memory then here is the QVL for memory, although there should be no issues using any PC3200 memory on that board. http://www.asus.com/999/download/products/179/179_10.pdf The only way I can see one supporting your kit better than the other is that the Asus is the better brand, and will probably support overclocking of your CPU/Memory better than the Soyo.
bigDK,so what your telling me is both motherboards are close the being the same if i DONT intend to overclock even though the asus is the better brand.if i plan to overclock, then i should go with the asus.
The same in that they will run the CPU memory in the same way. I can't comment on Soyo as a brand as I've never even heard of them before this.
