my hard drive died and i installed a new one. when Windows XP finished installing, it now shows my new hard drive as G: instead of C

    my current system contains:
the new hard drive (on primary IDE channel by itself)
    2nd hard drive (H:)
Ultra Internal media reader incl. Floppy drive
    DVD-Rom
    DVD-RW

i've tried changing the G to C in the Admin. section but it won't let me change it. is there any way to do this without re-formatting? and what would make it do this in the first place so i can try to avoid it if reformat is necessary?

    thanks for any info...
