Installing a .rpm in linux

    How exactly do you install a .rpm file in linux... it was to my understanding that it was the closest thing to a windows equalivant to .exe in that it installs it self after it is double clicked... if any one knows of some good tutorials or web sites i would greaty appreciate the input, and or instructions on how to do so...

    So....Did you download the rpm file? Do you have Redhat or another distro that uses the RPM package system? Or what are you trying to do? I need more info
