i know what i need to get, but idk if there is anything new that came out, or is coming out before christmas. i was thinking of getting an m3 and a passcard 3. i need help, first of all, i want to know if what im getting is all i need to run hombrew, besides of course a computer, second i want to know if i should get any different items, and what the difference between the m3 that reads sd cards, and the one that reads mini sd cards. thanks a bunch, i know its a ton of questions, but i figured i'd kill a bunch of birds with one stone

M3 lite is being released around August 15th. If you have a DS-Lite and lots of money to spend on Micro SD cards, then you should wait for this. If not, I would suggest an M3 SD or miniSD. The difference between the two is basically size and type of media. miniSD is about half the size of a normal SD card. Normally, they come with miniSD to SD adapters, so either way you'll be able to use it if you pick up a miniSD card w/ an adapter. There's no software difference. Physical differences:

i can upgrade sd cards if i need them. is 1 gb good for a mini sd card? cause on ebay, a 1gb mini sd is only like 14 bux. thats pretty sweet. is the m3 lite good or bad comparing to the g6 lite?

imo M3 Lite is better because you can upgrade the memory. G6Lite has a fixed memory (512 Megabytes), but has faster loading times

micro SD and miniSD are different. M3 Lite takes Micro SD, not miniSD.

A good size for a microSD card is at least 512MB.

Is there a difference in what BRAND of card you get?

On Newegg.. the cheapest SD/Mini-SD cards are by brand names like A-Data /Ridata/PQI/Transcend

Should we stick to well known brands like Sandisk or what? =]

A-Data is pretty good from what I've heard. PQI and Transcend are trash IMO. Kingston is really good memory, can't fail with that!

    RiDATA is great as well.

I myself use a 150x RiDATA 1GB miniSD and my brother uses a Kingston 512MB microSD.

M3 miniSD uses miniSD, NOT microSD. They are two different types of SD cards.

M3 Lite (the white cased one) uses microSD.

M3 Lite will most likely use the exact same firmware as the SD version of the M3, except it uses microSD media instead of the other ones available

so to rephrase, it just uses different media and is smaller physically
