hey, i ahve a ASUS mb and in the manual it says it puts out 6 channel audio. so ive put my logitech z5500 speakers in and nothing, no sound at all. ive looked through the control panel of xp and there isn't many options to change the settings. ( ps i just took my pci 6 channel sound card out cos ive ran out of spare pci slots)

    any suggestions?

Chances are that the system now has the removed card set as the default sound device, even though it has been removed.
make sure that the onboard audio device is enabled in bios, then go to control panel.
Select Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices,Sounds and Audio Devices, then audio tab and make sure that the onboard sound card is what is selected as the default sound playback device.
