Hi ther guys i am going to be building a new system and are looking for some advice for cpu selection the 2 i have come up with are AMD Athlon 64 4000+ (Socket 939) or a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ (Socket 939) if any one can help or give advice to which would be best for gaming i would be greatfull and also any idea on graphics cards i was thinking of a HIS Excalibur ATI Radeon X1600 XT ICEQ Turbo 256MB DDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) Thanks for any help Danny
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814161012 If you can afford this it'll be a lot better than an X1800GTO. The X2 3800+ is a great CPU and will ultimately outperform the 4000+ by 60%.
Actually sammoris. Just thought id pop in!! lol im not sure if you knew this BUT i recently overclocked my X1800GTO and with a little hex editing/rom editing etc you can unlock 4 pipelines on the X1800GT and in effect get an X1800XL. Also ive upped the voltage and got the clock frequencys etc up!! So if your up for a bit of overclocking then definatly go for that card!! Also if your going thaT WAY THE ICE IS THE EBST IT HAS THE BEST HSF!! Lecsiy
The HIS ICEQ is a lot better than the stock cooler, if you're willing to sacrifice a slot. The X1800GTO is the same as an XL just renamed, do you mean the XT?

Well checking the rom i have: 550 Memory clock 1.1Ghz effective. 16 Pipelines! 550 Core clock 1.3V From i think it was 1.15V...!! So whatever it is its become a much better card!! Lecsiy
Yup people were saying there were like at 1.45V. Jesus i would never put that much power throught my graphics card! Although its quite a nice nearly near lol top range card now!! Lecsiy
