Hi peeps. i just did a full reinstall of windows (well it was actually a "restore factory settings" disc) and everything went great. Part from one thing. I try to log on my username , and it come up with a message saying "windows cannot load the user profile, but instead it will log u on using a default profile for this computer. DETAILS: The system has attempted to load or restore a file into the registry, the the specified file is not in registry file format.!" Well, after many hours thinking it over, i thought.... "hhhhhhhhuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh?!?!?"
I'm kinda thinking that the restore didn't exactly match up with the user changes from when you used it. However, and the login screen, hold CTRL ALT, and press DEL twice. That will bring up the Admin login. Use that to create a new user login for you. When you login to the new account, you may or may not be able to access the profile...but at least you'll have a new one.
When you did the "factory restore" your user profile was wiped out. You restored the system files like they were the day you got the computer. The message is a little cryptic but that's what happened. When you tried to log on, it is telling you that the profile no longer exists. You'll have to start from scratch and set up new profiles. Admin as well as users.
I did i did. The disk RE INSTALLED windows xp, but it just ALSO installed the programs that were on it when it was purchased, like nero. I had to enter new user accounts, because it was a totally new windows. I did this, and then that message came up. i think ill just delete that accoutn and add another one.
